City Commissioner convicted of abusing city credit card

Not nice. How come people commit these crimes, that are sure to get detected sooner or later?

Waycross City Commissioner Janice "Penny" Hodges has been removed from office and sentenced to five years of probation after a Ware County jury convicted her of theft by conversion for using a city credit card to buy personal items.
(...) With tears running down her face, Hodges said she was grateful Blount did not sentence her to prison.

Records show she used the city credit card for things such as clothing, a car rental and concert tickets.

These are nice-to-have items... not essentials. Why risk your job and reputation on it? I don't get it...

if it had been anybody else they would be serving TIME in jail.just go to show its who you know. & thats all their is to it.
